It’s been often said: it’s not the destination, it’s the journey. But what if the journey is the destination?

Survey after survey, and story after story have shown the statistics, that today’s young consumers pursue experiences over assets, saving for traveling rather than the traditional house or car. And so traveling itself has to evolve, has to offer more sensations, more stimuli, or maybe in some cases, even less. In the BTS song Euphoria, an ode to the exuberance of youthful love, these lines capture the wonder of going off to sea: “I hear the far-away ocean across a dream/over the horizon/going to that place of clarity/you are the cause of my euphoria.” People often speak of making travel bucket lists by naming famous capitals or remote destinations. But it is also a dream to experience all the different modes of travel, and so cruising has grown to add even more pleasures on board a ship. To travel by sea, and be constantly looking out at the infinite blue, slows down time; one can lose and find the self all at once.
The sensation of boarding a large ship captures both the imagination and one’s primal senses; the cruise is a Colossus but as it glissades across the water, the movement is seamless and serene. Dream Cruises also manages to combine the sleek feel of an urban hotel with all the fun and carefree attractions of a beach resort. In the Reception Lobby, across each other is a library and a virtual reality screen. The Waterslide Park is a watery playground, with giant slides and large decks. Do you want that sensation of flying over the ocean? There’s a zipline, rope course, a climbing wall or a running track, all for that all-important adrenaline rush. Come nightfall, one can start off with a snack at The Lido some cocktails at the Johnny Walker Lounge and then a luxurious dinner worthy of a Wong Kar Wai movie at the Silk Road. You can then book a private sing-along room and party all night with friends.

Or you can also sweat it out at the gym and then be spoiled at the spa both can be done at the Crystal Life Fitness and Spa. Or have a movie night in the main lobby, or at the Zouk Beach, located at the aft of the ship for that vintage drive-in movie feel. Some luxury retail therapy is also ever present. Many people say that the glamour of travel has been eclipsed by the long security measures or the crowding at airports. Going on a Dream Cruises, while it is full of modern amenities and updated attractions, brings back little that elegant edge when travel was an occasion and when travel gives you the comfort of your own home.
