Havaianas honors Japanese roots at MYOH 2016

I looove Japan! Everything from its majestic landscapes, spot-on fashion trends, advanced technologies, exquisite food and perfectly preserved traditions are inspirations to me. So when I heard that Havaianas will be launching its 11th Make Your Own Havaianas with a Japanese theme at the SM Mega Mall Fashion Trade Hall I told myself I really needed to check this out. Then I became even more ecstatic as it finally came true when Havaianas invited me to its official MYOH launch on April 21!

But, if you’re probably wondering -- "Why Japanese?", then try to take a look at the little rice straw patterns on each Havaianas pair. These are actually the marks of its Asian heritage as our favorite flip-flop brand was conceptualized with the Japanese Zori, flat thonged sandals made of straw and fibers!  And this year, to commemorate its proud eastern legacy MYOH kicked off with a Japanese Shibori (ancient dyeing technique) theme.
Besides the fact that I got my very own customized Shibori patterned Havaianas flippies, it took a while for me to decide which pins to get as the new pins were all so kawaii! But in the end, I got myself the cute robot and ninja pins I really enjoyed the taking pictures in the Instagram booth, stamping away in the Shibori-stamping area and even made my own Shibori-inspired bracelet too!
Things got even more exciting as some of our favorite idols and celebrities graced the event. What's more, PBB 737’s cutest love team Bailey May and Ylona Garcia, lovely Julia Barretto, Sports idols Kiefer Ravena, Mika Reyes and Jeron Teng, Laura Lehmann and Von Pessumal joined the fun as this year’s proud celebrity assemblers!

And because Havaianaticos all over the country cannot wait to make their own Havaianas, MYOH has officially opened to selected All Flip-Flops branches nationwide! Check out the following in Metro Manila: Corte de las Palmas in Alabang Town Center, G/F North Wing in SM Mall of Asia, All Flip-Flops Bonifacio High Street, All Flip-Flops TriNoma, and All Flip-Flops Robinsons Ermita. In the provinces, drop by: All Flip-Flops SM City Baguio, All Flip-Flops SM City Cabanatuan, All Flip-Flops SM City Calamba, All Flip-Flops SM City Tarlac, All Flip-Flops SM City Iloilo, All Flip-Flops SM City Bacolod, All Flip-Flops SM Seaside City Cebu, SM Lanang Premier, and SM City Cagayan de Oro Activity Center.

It's really thanks to this year's Make Your Own Havaianas,  I was able to once again walk into the  Land of the Rising Sun with fashionably new flip-flops!
