After 10 long years, I finally got the chance to come back to Davao. It was close to a two-hour ride away from Manila and I was really looking forward to see what has changed from the last time I’ve set foot on the province—except that it would only be for an overnight stay.
Before heading to the Marco Polo Hotel, we had ample time to stroll around and see the progress in the province. I flew to Davao to catch the Ipanema Urban Fashion Show, the launching of the brand of flipflops in one of Davao’s newest shopping destination, the Abreeza Mall.

Is that Scarborough? |

Or Spratley island? |
|
Or Panatag shore? |
|
Or Pearl Farm lang? |

View from the top. |

While strolling and having a handful of laughs, a number of interesting pieces invited us inside the t’nalak Home store. Fine weaving made into functional furniture pieces and home accessories—from lampshades, pillowcases, frames, down to notebooks (and you know my obsession with notebooks). |

Christmas is just around the corner -- literally! |

After a couple of hours, we were invited by some of our Davao friends to Mana Davao, which is like the biggest collection of antique pieces that I have ever seen. From small to large-scale furniture, we were mesmerized by some of the finest wooden pieces that, need I say, I want to have in my house. Standing there was like breathing in history and rich culture, and that’s the big history geek in me kicking in. |

Antique explosion! |

Here comes the great finds! |

This eerily looks like a piece used in a period film and I love it. |
