Trip to Jerusalem (Part 5): The Holocaust and Israel Museums

A decade in the making, the Holocaust History Museum combines the best of Yad Vashem’s expertise, resources and state-of-the-art exhibits to take Holocaust remembrance well into the 21st century.

The Holocaust History Museum occupies over 4,200 square meters, mainly underground. Both multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary, the museum presents the story of the Shoah from a unique Jewish perspective, emphasizing the experiences of the individual victims through original artifacts, survivor testimonies and personal possessions.

This museum commemorates the millions of Jews who perished as a result of Nazi persecution in World War II.

I love the parallel lines in this amazing structure! Can't help but gasp in wonder!
The 45, 000-square-foot museum attracts more than a million visitors a year from all over the world.
Tourists taking some break time before resuming the long tour.
The main building is a concrete triangle chiseled into the side of a mountain.
Square off!
Spacious and clean hallways are everywhere.

Love this courtyard!

The Hall of Remembrance. The Hall is an imposing structure, with walls made of basalt boulders brought from the area surrounding the Sea of Galilee, and an angular roof that gives it a tent-like shape.
Engraved on the mosaic floor are the names of 22 of the most infamous Nazi murder sites, symbolic of the hundreds of extermination and concentration camps, transit camps and killing sites that existed throughout Europe.

Stairway to heaven?

Look at the greens housed in this big structure.
Enter at your own risk! Haha
This tree should be in my garden now!
The Holocaust and Heroism Museum of Art. This art museum is a testimony to the indomitable spirit of Jewish creativity.
