Harvey Nichols

Long before I had set foot inside a Harvey Nichols, fondly called Harvey Nicks, I knew that it was a temple of style, from reading British magazines all my life, and from watching Absolutely Fabulous, the first sitcom starring fashion people, namely fashion editor Patsy and publicist Edina. When the biggest Harvey Nicks in Asia opened at Pacific Place, they did so with a grand display. And in the store's in house magazine, the headline read: "Fashion Typhoon hits Hong Kong!" Handwritten congratulatory notes were sent by such fashion notables as Philip Treacy, Alber Elbaz, Giuseppe Zanotti, Peter Copping of Nina Ricci, Claudia Schiffer, Remo Ruffini of Moncler, and Rachel Zoe.

TV or not TV? Geometric silver shelves frame the television displays from the watch and jewelry department.

The best part of making up. Hundreds of lipstick tubes and eyeshadow pots are formed into a sinuous work of art.

Hanging on for dear life. Paper covered wire hangers with the store logo formed a giant tower which was the backdrop for the most fashion forward looks.

The mind boggling and absolutely astounding window and lobby displays took prosaic, everyday items and elevated them to sculpture.

Measure for measure. Giant tape measures, and then a pair if jeans woven from tape measure.

This is sipit. The humble clothespin, painted red, is fashioned into a ball gown.

Baby, baby, baby, ooooh, thought you'd always be mine. The children's section with such namedroppables as Little Marc Jacobs, Baby Dior, Diesel Kids, Marni, Moncler, Burberry, and so many more, was represented by a giant teddy bear made from baby bottles. Adorable!
