Not on bread alone

Man may not live on bread alone, and in Paris, one definitely doesn't have to. Though the bread itself is tasty and soul satisfying, the legendary Paul also serves wonderful sandwiches and delightful pastries. Don't leave Paris without trying the hot chocolate! And of course, the legendary Ladurée, which popularized the macaron, two meringue cookies with a sweet jam filling, a quintessentially French sweet that has taken the world by storm, and has become as much as a Paris destintion as the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower. So much so that there is a line outside the Champs Élysées flagship store and cafe that is longer than the Birkin waiting list! If one were to compare, Paul is like the Breton sailor shirt, the white one with blue stripes that has been riffed on by Jean Paul Gaultier, and Ladurée is more like a Dior couture gown; though one may be rustic and earthy, and the other one refined and gilded, both have elevated the craft of baking into high art.

This way to Ladurée. Uy, rhyme!
Luckily, we were early enough that there was no line yet.
Aside from macaroons, they also have a wide variety of pastries!
So many options, can't really decide what to pick!
Just look at those colorful macaroons and the way they display them. Sweet & artsy!
They also have macaroons that come in Hello Kitty boxes. Cute!
Outside Ladurée after my visit at sweetville.
Ladurée branch at the famous Champs-Élysées.
Hot chocolate! Look how a simple "Paul" could make a chic difference!
They also have macaroons in Paul. Just as colorful and yummy!

Macaroon + hot chocolate = the best!

Wide selection of pastries from one corner of the room to the other! The choice is all yours!
More freshly baked choices!
Angelette, diet!
Check out my giant macaroon! And guess what's in the bag? :)

My well balanced lunch, French style! Hahaha.
How cute the doors going to the comfort room! Hommes & Femmes!
What better way to enjoy my French lunch but with a handsome French man. Okay, a Pinoy will do for now. Toast to sweet surprises!
